Mediterranean Cruise – Israel Shore Excursion
October 15-17, 2019






Day 1 – Tues. Oct. 15: GALILEE
Meet your guide at the port of Haifa to begin your visit to Israel – the Holy Land. Visit Cana, the
site of Jesus’ first miracle. Continue on to nearby Nazareth, the Galilee town of Jesus’ youth, to
visit the Basilica of the Annunciation. Drive across Galilee for lunch, featuring St. Peter’s fish by the Sea of Galilee. Visit the Mt. of Beatitudes where Jesus preached the Sermon on the Mount.
Visit the town of Capernaum on the shores of the Sea of Galilee, the center of Jesus’ ministry in
Galilee. Take a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee as Jesus and his disciples did. Visit the 2,000 year
old fishing boat found buried at the bottom of the Sea of Galilee. Return to your ship for your
overnight stay.
Day 2 – Wed. Oct. 16: JERUSALEM

Depart Haifa early and drive south along the Mediterranean coast and then inland to Jerusalem in
the hills of Judea. Begin your visit to Jerusalem with a panoramic view of Old Jerusalem from
the Mt. of Olives. Visit the Garden of Gethsemane. Enter the Old City of Jerusalem through the
Jaffa Gate and walk through colorful bazaars to the site of the crucifixion at Golgotha – the
Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Join an English-language mass, celebrated here. Continue to the
Cardo, the main street of the ancient Old City which has been excavated and restored as in Jesus’
time, with shops and galleries. View the Temple Mount where Solomon’s Temple once stood.
Visit the Western (Wailing) Wall, part of the retaining wall of the Temple Mount. Continue on to
Bethlehem, the site of the tomb of Rachel and the birthplace of Jesus. Visit the Church of the
Nativity, built on the grotto where Jesus was born and the Shepherds’ Fields. Return to Jerusalem
to visit the Garden Tomb. Overnight in Jerusalem.

Day 3 – Thurs. Oct. 17: JORDAN RIVER, DEAD SEA, JERUSALEM
Begin your day at Kasr el Yahud, the traditional site of Jesus’ baptism in the Jordan River by
John the Baptist. Then visit Qumran, the site of an early mystical community that was believed
to have been frequented by John the Baptist and possibly Jesus as well. The famous Dead Sea
Scrolls were found in caves near this site. Continue south to visit Masada, the mountaintop
fortress built by Herod the Great and defended by Jewish zealots. Experience the unique
phenomenon of swimming/floating the in the salty waters of the Dead Sea. Return to your ship
for your overnight stay and the rest of your Mediterranean cruise.
